Today I came across a family-run blog with the specific purpose of sharing their experiences with vision therapy.
Vision therapy offers an opportunity to adjust one’s perspective, to consider another viewpoint.
On the website, TheViewFromHere.me, a dedicated mother introduces herself and her family. In this intro, she catalogs the challenges which brought her to the office of a behavioral optometrist.
The interesting thing is that this particular Mom had the good fortune of stumbling across a Behavioral Optometrist!
She ALSO had the GOOD SENSE to know that she was in the right place when she appreciated:
- the thorough exam,
- the attention to detail,
- the distinction between eyesight and the visual process, and
- the logical analogies which her doctor made between success in a team sport and success in a classroom setting.
What I ADMIRE MOST about this Mom is her drive to share the wealth!
One recent, heart-warming realization:
So if you are a patient wondering if vision therapy may offer solutions to your challenges, WELCOME to the support community! …
…where parents and patients feel so enriched by their experiences, they want to share their stories and offer hope to those in need!
…where you can interact with moms like this one at the P.A.V.E. blog!
…where you can read up on inspiring success stories at Vision Therapy Success Stories and the Wow Vision Therapy Blog!
…where you can ask questions of adult patients who are taking steps to “heal thyself”:
- Greg Voth
- The “One-eyed Princess”
- “Strabby”, plus some cross-blogging
by esteemed colleague, Len Press: Strabby 1, Strabby 2, Strabby 3 - “Healing My Sight”
- Sue Barry, PhD
I encourage patients to make use of these wonderful resources, these people who have nothing to sell you, no personal benefit. How wonderful to find a community of patients and parents who simply want to SHARE THE WEALTH which they have found through vision therapy!
May your pot of gold be the connections you make with other people who offer stories of hope and inspiration.
I appreciate your blog and your guest post on COVD. We are not alone! Thanks for mentioning my blog!
